Terra Power Systems recently launched a power rental division, now boasting a fleet of over 30 generators ready to go for both prime and standby applications.
Terra Cat is New Zealand’s Caterpillar dealer, and they are not new to the rental business.
With many years of successful experience hiring out Cat construction machinery, it made sense to move into power generation, says general manager power systems, Greg McCarthy.
“We offer short or long-term rental solutions for emergency, temporary, commercial and remote situations.”
Hamish Wright of CCL Construction Contracting is a long-time Terra Cat customer and one of the first civil construction companies to hire a Cat Genset.
CCL has a reputation as an innovative and effective supplier of high-quality civil engineering products and contracting services to Canterbury. The mid-sized civil construction company maintains a fleet of over 50 machines, with the most advanced 3D machine control fleets locally available.
Wright has been renting specialist machinery, such as GPS excavators, from Terra Cat for some time: “We’ve had good service over the years”.
“We heard that Cat was hiring generators and when our old one needed repairs, we rang around and got pricing and they had the best rate.”
The Cat DE33E0 trailerised generator is prime rated at 30kVA and is running the truck wheel wash on one of CCL’s development sites in the Christchurch suburb of Cashmere.
“It’s about making sure that no dirt leaves the site as part of our resource consent” he says.
McCarthy explains the benefits: “As well as unscheduled downtime, customers are turning to rental to power remote sites, new or expanded facilities and to cover seasonal peak loads.”
Rental generators are available nationwide and for any length of time, from one day to many months, with trailered units for ease of delivery.
“Renting also gives you the benefit of trying Cat power and technology before you buy,” says McCarthy.
Every Terra Power Systems rental generator is fitted with Cat Product Link. Product Link is a remote monitoring solution that enables efficient and effective fleet management. Events and diagnostic codes as well as hours, fuel and idle time are sent via satellite or cellular communications.
Terra Cat also provides condition monitoring support through a team of technical experts, along with a nationwide network of 16 branches, 93 field service technicians and 200 mechanics. This means any maintenance or faults reported can be investigated and repaired effectively and efficiently, ensuring maximum productivity for the rental units.
Cat machines and engines are widely recognised as premium products and are known for superior quality and reliability.
If you’re interested in renting a generator, call your closest power systems territory account manager to discuss further options. Terra Power Systems has Conrad Owens in Auckland, Michelle Nicolai in Palmerston North or David Harrison in Christchurch.
