Unitec Institute of Technology (Te Whare Wānanga o Wairaka) is a subsidiary of Te Pūkenga and is one of the largest institutes of technology in New Zealand.
It offers a wide range of programmes and short courses, from certificate to postgraduate degree level (levels 1 to 9) across a number of disciplines from architecture to zookeeping. Our carpentry students don’t just learn the theory, they spend most of their time on building sites or in our workshops at our purpose built trades building, Mataaho.
Our construction programmes are presented by industry experts and provide a practical, hands-on approach to learning. They’re linked to industry, are interactive and offer a balance of applied and theoretical learning. The main campus is situated in Mt Albert, and Waitākere campus in Henderson.
